This show is part of Wrexfest 2024 – a two day festival featuring over 100 acts performing at venues across Wrexham city centre.
Tickets £12
Victor Serge
Victor Serge are a Liverpool-based two piece who use Electro Collage to draw postcards of their home environment in the hope others will send a postcard back; their live shows resemble danceable versions of ‘Waiting for Godot’.
Their live performances are termed ‘Pretentious Art Happenings’, and are bouncy, can a band make you think, and dance? Victor Serge exist to to prove this can happen.
Melys Edwards
Melys is a bilingual musician channelling the fury of her Celtic ancestors with an enchanting contemporary expression in her lyrics and style. Expect to feel grief, empowerment and healing as she combines singing, movement and chanting raps
SASZ
Sasz is a Wrexham-based singer-songwriter who performs with a band made up of lead guitarist, Harrison Bellis and drummer, Ben Roberts. They formed in October last year and have since supported Baby Brave and Cara Hammond at sold out shows in local venues. Her melodic blues, rock and pop songs have sad girl themes but the spirit of a 70’s rock chick. In November last year she released her debut single ‘With Time To Kill’, some of which was recorded at ROC2 Studios during the Bunker Sessions supported by Focus Wales and she’ll be releasing more music and maybe even an EP this year.
White Feather Kiss
WFK released their self-recorded EP, ‘The Elephant Graveyard’, in 2018. They promoted the release with a fluid lineup, using various guest guitarists. After a four-year hiatus, they recruited a pianist and wrote new material, which they debuted at the Wrexfest 10 year anniversary. “Dark, brooding melodies, over powerful rhythms underpinned with a strong song writing ethic, recalling some of the Manics’ darkest hours.” We call it gothic with a small ‘g’. Same difference I guess.
Sister Envy
Sister Envy hail from the North Wales coast, a place of mystery, harshness, and beauty, a place where opportunity is blocked for younger people, yet dreams can break through. It’s here that Sister Envy met at college, this fast-emerging Alternative Psychedelic rock quartet are a brand-new signing to North Wales label Yr Wyddfa Records Snowdonia (home to Holy Coves) releasing their first single ‘Mourning Sickness’ on the 23rd of February.
Woozy psychedelic-tinged guitars and enveloping vocals that detail the bleary moments after you wake. North Walian singer-songwriter Kameron Jolliffe vividly captures the wistful memories of growing up. With his infectious vocals burrowing their way into your head. Possessing a carousel of percussion, a tapestry of beguiling rock sound, that takes influence from the sounds of the 60s and 70s but also the early 90s indie and gaze scene of bands like, My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Spiritualized.
Baby Brave
Imagine a sound somewhere nestled between Warpaint and Talking Heads, playing classic pop songs with soaring melodies, disco rhythms, gut wrenching guitars and a sonic palette that ranges from echo-laden new wave to distorted post-punk.
You have imagined Wrexham’s Baby Brave’s Pop-noise!
The band have played almost every Wrexfest since 2014 making the festival their second home.
The band have recently received BBC Horizons funding to record their debut album, ‘Sugar To The Tongue’, orchestrated by Cardiff-based producer Charlie Francis (R.E.M. Robyn Hitchcock), due for release in 2024.
HAZMAT
HAZMAT are a dynamic grunge/dreamo band hailing from the dragons nest Wrexham, Wales. Currently based out of Liverpool. HAZMAT is composed of Iwan Douglas (vocals/rhythm guitar), Luca Visetti (lead guitar), Owen Brown (bass guitar) & Matt Birnie (drums). Drawing inspiration from the classic alternative sounds of the 90’s and infusing it with heavy shoegaze fuzz riffs, the HAZMAT blend creates a captivating and dark dreamscape. Having made a mark on numerous hot venues across the UK scene, HAZMAT has performed in multiple cities across the UK, captivating audiences who share their love for heavy & spacey noise. With a fresh lineup in place, HAZMAT is eagerly preparing to release new music in early 2024, showcasing the evolution from their debut EP ‘DOOM’
Generation
Generation are two brothers, who had nothing better to do with their lives, kidnapped an innocent angel from Newcastle and started a band. It turned out she was just as crazy.
Generation are no stranger to Wrexfest headlining in their previous incarnation in 2017. Generation are intent in injecting some much-needed glam back into the music scene and Wrexfest heralds their return with open arms.
